FREE ADMISSION

The Project Management Team of the Broomhill Pool Trust today announces details of a public “Hands On” Exhibition; presenting the preliminary findings of the £67,000 Feasibility Study into the future of the Grade 2 listed facility.

The full scale Feasibility Study into Broomhill Lido has been running from January 2006 and includes:

  • Structural survey
  • Review of potential funding streams
  • Business plan outlining how a restored facility will pay for itself
  • Public (and potential user group) consultation and questionnaires
  • Architectural designs
  • Renewable energy options (to heat the waters)

The Hands On Exhibition, supported by Ipswich Borough Council, will provide inter-active participation for the public to review numerous exciting options for the pool, and to register opinions, preferences and ideas. Our aim is to provide a restored facility that will serve the people of Suffolk for generations to come!

Ipswich Borough Council have provided a grant to cover [most of] the cost, allowing the Trust to complete the feasibility study. Subject to the success of the feasibility findings; and conditional on the production of a robust business plan [to demonstrate the financial basis of Broomhill Pool as an ongoing facility] the Trust will secure £1,000,000 from Ipswich Borough Council towards the full costs of redeveloping and operating Broomhill Pool.
